Tex-Mex Has Arrived in Paris

I never said that I was the first to do Tex-Mex, now did I?

Look at this, right here in my neighborhood Monoprix grocery store, next to the Chinese noodles, I found Old El Paso’s “Kit pour Taco Souple” – that’s soft tacos to you and me, kid. But here ‘tis, for the amazingly low price of 5.80 euros, all in a cheery yellow box — 8 flour tortillas, a little packet of “seasonings,” and some sort of tomato sauce to put on top. Of course you still have to buy meat, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese, which will set you back another 15 euros or so on the low end. So see? For just about 21 euros (that’s about 31 bucks in American), you can have your very own Tex-Mex meal out-of-a-box.

That’s some fancy taco.

I have actually seen people buying these, so that tells me one thing: Tex-Mex has arrived in France, at least in spirit.

I’m just trying to show them how it’s really done.
