Yesterday, I woke up to snow. Lots of snow. I took this picture at the Bois de Boulogne, the big park on the edge of the city just a couple of blocks from my apartment, which is where Rose and I went for our morning walk. For more than an hour, until she fell into the lake (!), we crunched through the white stuff in the rather eerie silence that settled onto the city.
To satisfy my latest obsession – vintage blue and white café au lait bowls, which are not the easiest things to find– I bundled up with the usual five or six layers, put on my Uggs, cap, scarf, and gloves and big old puffy coat, and took the metro south, to Porte de Vanves, where they have a little junky flea market every weekend that’s slightly less pricey than the big one at Clignancourt.
Two days ago, it was 84 degrees. I was hanging out with some friends on the patio of the Love Shack in Fort Worth, eating a pile of onion rings and a double-cheeseburger (it’s the meatiest trip ever), and wishing that I’d packed my flip-flops so I could fit in with the crowd and show off my freshly painted toes.
Getting up early enough to catch the sunrise, coming up over the horse barn to the east. Talk about cowgirl heaven.
Just in time for the holidays – for your own fiesta, or perhaps as a great hostess gift – is Cowgirl Tacos’ Sassy Chipotle Salsa, made with fresh tomatoes, onions, cilantro, fiery chiles, and lots of other secret (and fabulous!) ingredients. At just 8.50 euros a jar, why not buy two?
Nah, just a trip to the eye doctor…who by the way, told me that my eyes weren’t as bad as I thought.
I told you I was becoming obsessed with pie. I made one of my favorites, pumpkin pie, the other day, just to stretch that old pie-making, crust-rolling muscle – et voila! – complete pie heaven.
Cowgirl Tacos, as you probably know by now, does oh so much more than just tacos, and will be baking up a storm in preparation for turkey day, which is ONLY SIX WEEKS AWAY! So get those email orders in now, y’all, so you, too can have some pie – my favorite breakfast, by the way.
Oh, just look at them, these little chiles, tiny that they are, in red and green – the cheerful colors of Christmas!
